It's been a long time since my last post, but it's been a busy time making enough gourds for all my shows. This year I am slowing down a bit and so hope to have time to add some newsletter entries, show off some of my new gourds and just enjoy the process more. Sometimes the rush of making gourds for the next show is all consuming!
Currently I am working on some new raven gourds for Jay's Bird Barn in Sedona, Arizona. Jays is a birders paradise with seed, books, binoculars and all things birds. They carry a few of my gourds in their shops. In June they are having a week of raven love so I am making a few special gourds for them. For me it was an experiment in a new design and I was really pleased how they came out.
There are a lot of ravens around where I live and generally have a pair hanging out near my house. I did a little reading up on them and found out as youngsters they like shiny objects, so the one gourd reflects that. As they get older though they are much less inclined to fool around with things like that. Well the life of a parent doesn't allow time for such luxuries I would guess.
My next show is in Payson, Arizona May 25-26. Check out the details on the show schedule page. By that time I will have a bunch of new pieces, so stop by if you have a chance or check out Etsy. I am adding a number of gourds over the next few weeks.
