July 2016

Hard to believe the year is half over already.    We are in the midst of a very hot summer.  Record temperatures have made everyone a bit grumpy.  At the very least we are all staying longer where the air-conditioning is running.  I get up early to work in the garden andI wait until late afternoon when my work space is shaded for doing the outside carving and cleaning.  Still waiting for some rain.  Have had some clouds in the afternoon but looks like it’s going to be awhile for the summer rains to fall.

We did get rain on the last day of my show in May and I discovered my canopy is not waterproof.  Everything got soaked.  Left the show a bit early and the next day had to pull everything out to dry.  Next job is to waterproof the canopy.  A big job, but fortunately there are some waterproofing products out there for just this problem.

The gourd work needs to go on in spite of the weather and I am making good progress.  I have a show coming up over the July 4th weekend so have to get everything finished soon.  The show is in Pine, Arizona.  Check the show schedule for information.

New weaving

Learned a new weaving technique recently so will have a couple of new pieces for the show.  I’m always looking for new ideas, so it’s fun when one works out. There have been some that haven’t!
